Newbie question - Time Required to Make Money Blogging

Hello.

I would like to create my own blog . I have read that when You want to make money with your blog it is full time job.

My question is : Is it really true ? As I am webdesigner I can devote about 3hours each day for this. I dont want to make big money . Even If I make small amount of money I would be happy.

Regards , Bartek

I think you got some information mixed up along the way.

You can actually make a living from running your blog or make extra money on the side for spending a couple of hours each day or each week. I do blogging part time to try to earn extra income to spoil myself or my niece's and nephew's. I know if i focused harder and put a ton more hours into blogging i could make even more money. This is just my hobby and it keeps me out of trouble.

Blogging is not a full time job not unless you plan to make it your full time Job.

I'm not a web designer and that's a hot niche to be in. Everyone wants something designed for there websites. lol

3 examples of 3 bloggers who created a blog with no intention of making a living from it are shoemoney.com, johnchow.com and problogger.net (They make a living from it now and experts in there niche)

You can't make any money if you don't have traffic coming to your blog. Since you are a web designer, i'm sure you have idea's on how to use your skills to make money on your blog. Learn how to create wordpress themes and figure out your own price structure to charge clients.

3 weeks ago a mentor on V7N forum designed a new header and my avatar image for me on my blog. Didn't take him long at all and he made some money from that job.

Here are some blog posts to get you motivated:

It's not going to be a full-time job at first. If your blog starts to grow and develop a lot of readers, and you expand into product sales, forums, etc., it's going to start taking up a lot more of your time.

I think that if you want to make a full-time income off of your blog, you need to devote yourself to it full-time. If you put a couple of hours a day into it, you'll make a couple hours a day worth of income.

Blogs are one the best way to make money online no matter whether you work for full time or part time but matter what that how much knowledge you have concern to creating blog that makes money for you and what it is you expertise field for that.

Only that blogs will only make money who have tons of traffic every months so that you can able to make that traffic in to sale and you have to learn this only that like what it your niche, find audience related to that niche, than attract that audience to your blog by giving them something meaningful and helpful and make them turn in to your customer.

Thus it all about working smart with your skill and knowledge and not about working hard.

Best of luck.

You can spend as little or as much time on your blog as you like depending on how large a proportion it is to be of your income, plus how much income you actually want from it.

Blogging can lead onto other side projects such as freelance work. For example you may end up creating blogs for other people to get them started, or become a freelance writer, writing content for other peoples blogs or websites. Payment for this can be in the form of a link back to your blog (guest posting) or in some cases you can charge for the content.

My point is you can keep it small and part time (Just an hour each night after work) or as a full time business replacing your main job.

I don't think it's so much a matter of time, as it is content. What do I mean? Coming up with something to write about that's informative, interesting, and makes ppl keep coming back is really what's needed.
You certainly could spend 20 hrs per day working on a blog, but if it's not of interest to a lot of people, how will it make $?

Funny blogs are great. If you can make a connection with your visitors they will keep coming back to your blog. The money will come in eventually but having a steady flow of traffic is needed on any type of blog.

You need to work on the content & traffic first before thinking of making money out of it. You need to have a lot of repeat visitors before you can monetize a blog. And it will not come in an instant. It requires hard work and perseverance.

You won't be able to quit your job right away, but you can launch a blog on something you enjoy doing - create some great content, launch your blog & monetize it with CPC & CPA offers then work on the SEO.

If you've got 3 hours to spend each day then you can do more than you think.

Getting traffic is going to be the main thing but if you do the SEO right then things will fit into place and you'll then build up a base of readers that will want to share your content if it's good.

It takes quite a while to build up, and I've seen other bloggers develop their blogs and increase their traffic then release earnings reports that show it's possible.

There's a lot more to it, but it can be done and you will definitely be able to make a small amount of money, if you work hard you'll earn quite a bit

Honestly, as you add more context to your blog and just focus on writing about whatever it is you choose to write about, things will fall into place. The content you input will add to the organic SEO of your website. Once that happens more users searching terminology or entering keywords relevant to your blog will be led to your website.

Looking for passively making a web income? Try some of the content sites that allow you to monetize your documents and files or even articles you may have written.

I like docstoc for all of my school reports and papers that I've completed.

I've turned blogging and social media into my full time job, but never intended to. I think the key thing is to not start out thinking of it as a job or money maker. When you start thinking like that you risk sacrificing quality content.

You get what you put in.

I think you would be surprised. If you set up Adsense and post it to Facebook, then you have made money with your blog. Now, I know that isn't what you were talking about but most everyone makes money with their blog. The people who set the bar and say "This is where you start making money" would probably surprise a lot of us! Aside from the obvious bloggers like Darren Rowse at ProBlogger, there are probably others out there who are making a killing too.

Look at the plentyoffish guy... He says he only works one hour max a day and he's a billionaire. But of course, it must be the exception that confirms the rule...

The only downside to the whole idea is the time it takes to actually get the money you need to say "Ok, I'm now making money from this!" I have found that it takes about 2-3 months before you start really getting the traffic and the money that it needs. Take those 3 hours a day that you have and visit other blogs and comment on them. You are a designer so you know how to make it optimized for Google, and you probably already know the timeline too. It just takes time and patience.
