Wordpress cannot be used as a dependable cms for big portals or big websites that have lots of pages that dont follow a basic standard template framework. Even though it follows a solid templating system with one core template in the index.php file and each element being modular ( it allows for easy editing), i dont think i would want to use word press for purposes other than a blog.
One drawback is the comment moderation is a bit cumbersome and comment spam have overtaken email spam nowadays.
Worpress also doesnt have enable static archives which big sites might require for backups and server load reduction.
Easy installation yes but not really the best fit for being a substitute for a cms.
Maybe a lot of plugin's in the future by the active developer communities for wordpress would close the gap for Wordpress to become a fullfledged cms.
