I also do use W3 Total Cache @ snakeair. But i don't use Yoast SEO / All in One SEO Pack because i use thesis. Thesis has all SEO options that these plugins has
WordPress Theme Frameworks + Caching plugin makes page loading super faster

I vote with Snakeair. I use Yoast SEO and have been really impressed with it.
Since it's a WP plugin (or with any plugin for that matter) one of the great things is that it's easy to try and if you don't like it's easy remove and move on to the next plugin tool.

W3 total cache is nice but it's been causing issues with blogs and comments(paticularly it directs users to a blank page when they try and comment) I've researched and tested it and i'm not sure which part of W3 is doing it, think maybe database cache. Anyway my favorite Wordpress plugin is Exec-PHP, allows easy php code embedding in everything. Granted there's Wordpress shortcuts already I still like the plugin even if some consider it a security risk.

My webhost setup my W3 Total cache plugin for me because i didn't know the details of the server so i have not had any problems like you just suggested.
My advice is for people who want to install this plugin to first contact your web host and ask for the best settings to checkoff with this plugin. One wrong option selected can cause many errors.
No disposable emails is another plugin i have installed that's awesome. I'm allowed to add more email address to ban from registration. This plugin is great for people who allow other people to register.

I like WP socializer to add social network buttons like facebook or google+ to my website, but maybe there's a better one out there!

WP-Optimize is also a good one. It cleans up your database by deleting post revisions and also makes other database optimizations. You'll be surprised how much the size of database will go down once you use it. A good alternative to W3 Total Cache is WP Super Cache.

I use NextGEN Gallery alot.
My garden site is picture heavy, and using this gallery plug-in allows me to use a number of images in each post, w/o slowing down load-time too much.
I've posted up to 20 postage stamp sized images in a post, and not had complaints... Of course, that's a lot of pictures... And my posts are usually a lot less...

I consider All in One SEO WP plugin as the best for me because it helps me easily customize the title tags and meta tags of my blog as well as give me options to make "noindex" those pages that I wouldn't want search engines to index.

Yoast SEO (best SEO plugin in my opinion)
Akismet (does a great job removing all the helpful comments from the Indian SEO firms)
CommentLuv (more useful to my guests, but allows me to do internal linking)

I think the most usefull Wordpress plugin is Watermark RELOADED Pro. You can watermark your images in countless ways, and that way you also get lots of traffic back to your sites.

I ditto snakeair as well but will add WP-DB-Backup to the list. I have it set to auto backup and email it to me daily. Great time saver if you are posting a lot.
