You should be aware that free themes are not actually free (sometimes).
-they put a link in the footer which, if you read the Terms of Use say you cannot remove the link(s)
-they hide encrypted links so Joe/Josey average can't find them to remove them

If you are willing to live with those "costs" then go for it.

I believe the people who post their themes in the Wordpress Themes Directory are not allowed to do the above.

They are not allowed to do the above if they post their themes here in our Marketplace either.
