I have a blog on Wordpress.com. I like it. I haven't promoted it really, but I do get some traffic from other bloggers.

No, I didn't promote it... I just tried a few searches to get google to come to it and it did but other than that I hadn't tried anything else.

I am totally clueless when it comes to adsense and that's why my account was created in 2007 and I still haven't gotten my first check from google yet.

I'd appreciate any help I can get to promote it though.

I understand that you are adding fresh content every week right on your blog?

If you are not getting much money from adsense then it could be the ad placement's. Try shaking things up a little and adding new adsense blocks or link units on your blog.

For marketing the blog, you need to get backlinks to it. When you write a blog post, submit to to the social networks. For example, i have a self hosted wordpress blog and have social buttons attached at the bottom of the posts. When i write a blog post or a guests blogger does, i will send it to the social sites and sometimes get extra traffic besides my followers checking out the blog post if the title got there attention.

You can learn a few things from this blog post below:
http://www.blogspotmastery.com/2012/...c-to-blog.html

You might want to consider going with the self hosted Wordpress blog. You need a domain name, shared hosting account and you can always use a FREE theme to save on money. With self hosted WordPress blog, there a few SEO plugins to make the blog more SEO friendly for the search engines. It's easier to add adsense in any location that you want if you use a plugin or do this manually.

The thing with adsense is that you could be getting repeat visitors so they will have ad blindness over time. It's good to experiment with new locations every few months till you find a combination that makes the most money per click.

Have you optimised your blog? I think having more than 90+posts is good enough to get good amount of traffic as long as you provide informative blog posts, optimize their titles and make your blog more shareable by adding social buttons on your blog posts.

Through having social media buttons like retweet, fb like, fb share or G+ beside your blog post titles or at the end of your blog posts, this can help encourage your readers to share them on their social network accounts.

You can use wordpress.com or blogetery.com. There is a site win-website.com which provides free domain along with free blog hosting. You can also give that a try.

Let's say you want to make the small investment in having a self hosted wordpress blog. (wordpress.org)

You can buy a domain for a good price at godaddy.com... in our domain section there is a sticky thread with godaddy coupons for discounts. Be sure to check the last reply in that sticky thread for current coupon's.

You can get some cheap shared hosting at hostgator, bluehost, dreamhost. (I recommend hostgator)

You can find a ton of free themes for your wordpress blog by searching google for "free wordpress themes"

I'd say to start a self hosted wordpress blog, right up front your inital investment will be under $30 in total or less. I'm just tossing out the cheapest things to get your started.

The blog post I wrote about creating your first wordpress blog wouldn't be for you because my inital investment was a lot more. Once you start making a few bucks with your blog, you can upgrade your hosting if you growing out of your hosting package or you can buy a premium theme.

What other tips are you looking for if you was to create a self hosted wordpress blog. I could give more but trying not to toss out idea's that'll cost $$$.
