How To Deal with Trolls and Rude Comments

I've wrote blog posts about this topic as well. I'll write more in the future when a few trolls tick me off again.

Call me an idealist, but I believe in open blog commenting. Anonymous comments, harshly critical comments (even if they attack me personally), and controversial comments are always allowed on my blogs because I feel that censoring them would restrict an open exchange of ideas.

Yeah: When IPv6 is officially out, IP banning will loose its power. One can change IP addresses like socks.

I hope they think ahead and enforce good regulations.

Well, IP banning its an option, but like GMF said they can change the IP, minute after minute, and come back, and get problems again.

To make this costly for them, as it may turn for others/you, you could try adding some phone verification codes - i think at one time they will waist the phone they have in the house, and friends...and gave up !

Yeah, a good solution. With this, nobody will troll. In fact, nobody will care to comment.

For rude or troll comments, I just delete them. One person will make the comment and if you don't delete it than 10 more who normally wouldn't do it can now do it. It's the exact same thing for forum spamming.

Seriously, troll just make comments for fun, don't worry about this. There's no need to spam or blame them: just delete them.
