Or is a nice and cheap template from Themeforest good enough? I really do like Woothemes but not sure since I have been reading some negatives about them being too bloated. But they just look so much better than Studiopress' plain Jane looks.

I'm more familiar with studiopress as I've been with them for almost 2 years now.
Not all there themes are plain jane ones. They are easy to customize to add your own stuff to it. In fact, at the beginning of this year, I hired a v7n mentor to create my header image for me. lol
Right now studiopress is working on there next framework release and beta version should be out soon, i'm going to test this version out on my blog when it's available. There are some designers who created themes that run off the genesis famework but as you know a good designer will be costly. (I'm not talking about the cheap designs that you feel that you got ripped off)
Even though the genesis framework comes with SEO options to use, I still use the Yoast SEO plugin as i've had it installed before I joined studiopress. I'm also on the websynthesis.com hosting which is only for studiopress clients (It's not mandatory to use them for your host but the security is top notch for the price I pay)
Woothemes, I promote them through there affiliate program but never actually used a theme/framework from them. I think StudioPress is the better way to go as they now converting all there existing themes to mobile responsive and any future ones that are created. I've wrote a few blog posts about there recent theme release's in the past.
