Multi User Blogging

Has anyone tried setting up user blogs on their site, where your users can get their own free blog in a sub domain of your site?

I have been looking in to wordpress MU, and lyceum but they seems too unstable and too technically advanced to run for me.

Does anyone know of any other multi user blogs that are simpler to install and maintain, or would MU be the way to go?

Casey

I would go with wordpress multi user for sure. It would easily be the one with the most support I believe.

Does Moveable Type have MU support?

From what I’ve heard Wp MU is not a very good idea because It’s not stable. Your best option would be to go with joomla + joomblog. It takes a few seconds to set up and there is total user integration “no bridge” with joomla.

I have multi-user blogging on my site and I use Drupal. But each user doesn't get their own subdomain.

Can you post the URL so we can take a look? I’m curious because I’ve never used drupal.

My site is Seen on Slash.

All of the blog posts appear together at http://seenonslash.com/blog
Each user's blog is at /blog/user_id. So mine is at http://seenonslash.com/blog/1

In the admin I can promote any blog posts to the front page of the site. See Drupal for the software. It's very well written.

I would recomend Drupal to anyone that wants to do anything more than a simple single user blog. It is just so much more powerful than anything else i have found. They are also starting to get everything to be user friendly, which was a big problem in the past, as it could only be understood by developers.
