Have started a Everything blog at http://koollog.blogspot.com/

Now i am a little confused, as my blog does not have a niche

What do i optomize it for, any suggestion on the keywords that i could target

You could use the keyword suggestion tool here, http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/

Find the keywords with the least competition but with at least 50 searches daily, use them.

To see which has the least competition, search the keywords in msn.com, yahoo.com, and google.com and check the results.

For example, I did this with "birds", in Google I get, "Results 1 - 10 of about 182,000,000 for birds" that's a lot of competition so I go back to the keyword suggestion tool and try out the next keywords in line, and so on, until I find one with at least 50 searches and the least competition.

Then it's worth investing your time in.

Optimize it for keywords? That doesn't sound like the right approach.

First off, you need to optimize it marketing wise for whatever traffic is the most targeted. By "targeted" I mean profitable. If none of your traffic is profitable, don't market it at all.

Blogspot is great for your needs.

Just write compelling articles and the rest will take care of itself. If you start writing with the intention of using keywords then your writing isn't going to be that good.

When we write using keywords we are writing copy. Copy is advertising. This is different than journalism. If you are writing a blog to inform, then just inform.

If you are not a writer, take a writing course, learn how to write. SEO isn't the answer to what you are going to accomplish... IMO
