Spam Tool question.

I'm thinking about adding a WP plugin where the person making the comment has to enter a set of characters. Before I do this though I have a few questions for those who have used this type of tactic to keep out spammers.

1. Did it reduce comment spam?
2. Did it stop regular commenters commenting?
3. What plugin did you use?

I don't have hundreds making comments, but I have more than most of the blogs I visit - some of them are regular posters, and whilst Akismet (http://akismet.com/) does a great job in makin sure I dont have to moderate comments (they go into the bin with one click!) I want to stop any automation by stopping them commenting.

if you understand RGB codes you can edit the bg color of the images that are generated.

It worked great. I didn't have complaints. I'm sure some really anal people avoided it because they refuse to type 4 more keystrokes. (I actually posted about that once before on my blog)

oh, and you just upload the file in the plugins, then turn it on in the admin and it will show up in your theme (or should anyway)...

Thanks JP I'll check that plugin out tomorrow.

At the moment I'm getting 100+ spam comments a day - thankfully Askimet is blocking every single one of them.
