India Bans Blogs - Typepad, Blogspot, more
This is pretty big news, my client just reported this to me because I am designing his Typepad powered blog and he resides in India.

Why would they do this? My client depends mainly on his Typepad blog income, I will be helping him move to Wordpress, easier for me to customize anyway.

But not everyone has even a fraction of the internet literacy that we do. I know a lot of friends with blogs or who read blogs who wouldn't spend the time to figure it out, or assume that there is no other way. These bans are not foolproof, but they do keep away large masses. |

Check out the Tech Blog...I just blogged about it. There are apparently some ways around it.... but the whole thing is quite ridiculous IMO.

so... they block those blog site, but can you not still run blog software on your own domain? are they going to ban you from formatting a site a certain way because it "looks like a blog" even if it's not really run by blogging software?... seems hard to control other then the blocking of the main domains (and even then, people can get around them)

You can run it on your own domain. But be wary of what you post.
They've blocked sites where the find offensive blogs, and in turn have blocked hundreds of thousands by blocking all of Blogger.com instead of just the few offending sites hosted by Blogger.

Blogs hav ebeen used by terrostits groups for a while now and may I point out that websites in general are also used. So it's either they become like China and spend all that money jsut keeping useless info away from their citizens or just accept the fact that it's inevitable.
