20 Mistakes Bloggers Are Still Making

geez, this list is to long.

Today I’m going to cover some of the biggest mistakes bloggers are still making.

Most of these fall under the category of “structural” or “conceptual.”

Chances are, if you’re a novice, you’re guilty of at least a couple.

Don’t stress, this post will set you on the right track to becoming a more successful blogger.

But be warned…

You may find yourself compelled to throw out some posts, or even move your blog in a new direction altogether.

Mistake #5: Lack of Commitment
I was guilty of this when I first started blogging. I started to lose my commitment ~4-5 months in and almost completely stopped. However, I kept pressing on and at the time my webmaster blog was #2 on Google right behind the Google Webmaster Central Blog.

Mistake #6: Quantity Over Quality
Seen this WAY too many times on blogs. A lot of people think that pumping out 2 dozen blog posts a day is better than half a dozen. I've often found that when bloggers do this, they tend to burn themselves out too fast and their blog goes inactive for prolonged periods.

Mistake #11: Blogging on Your Own
I'm guilty of this and probably will be forever. I do better working alone as I can set my own pace and workload.

Mistake #14: Not Connecting With Your Audience
I see this far too often than not. Granted I can't always reply, but I do reply to people leaving me comments whenever I can.

Mistake #16: Not Promoting Your Blog Posts
A crippling mistake indeed. If you don't promote, nobody will see it! lol

Mistake #18: Not Engaging Other Bloggers in the Industry
I will admit I've been guilty of this before, especially when I started my first blog back in 2008. I kept to myself and didn't really engage other bloggers. That has changed and I do actively engage with other bloggers either via their blogs or through social networks.

Guest posts are a great addition on my favourite blogs; I often visit contributors' pages. Posts in which a blogger is for example intewieving other bloggers/contributors/specialists are very welcomed.

Non regular posting!

Large enthusiasm at the beginning. Then author write less and less, until finally leave the site on her own. In this case, better to set up a static page with sub-pages, rather than a blog. Dead blog is much worse than a static page.

And writing regulary doesn't meant often. You can write once a month and it is better way to posting than for example 5 posts in first day, and than 2 months off.

This is a great list. I think the number one takeaway is putting yourself in your audience's shoes, understanding their needs and perspective.

People often wonder how the F, some bloggers hit the big time, it's through passion, caring and thinking about your pay check second... People can see straight through someone who is dis genuine and just wants to make a quick buck. You've got to provide value and epopee will reward you with coming back time and time again..

Regularly blog update and no comments + No discussion with commenters is the most big mistake in my point of view. Nice post btw. User engagement and socializing is the most effective way to drive real traffic.

What I commonly see, and am guilty of, is number five. Blogging requires hard work and determination and sometimes there is a lack of commitment. But it is hard to avoid (sometimes) because life can get in the way and the blog is no longer a priority.

Mistake #6: Quantity Over Quality

There is a blog I can think of, that has this problem. It is a political blog, written by people with similar political views to myself. Content is produced every day, but it is almost always low quality.

A lack of quality is the reason why I don't share their blog posts on Facebook. I have now come to expect their posts to be low quality, and I am now less likely to click on the Facebook feed links to their posts.

I think that biggest mistake that most of the bloggers do is that inconsistency and improper planning. They just make a blog and starts posting then later complains that their blog is not performing well in search engines.
