Problem Moving My Wordpress Site From One Host To Another

Hello,

I just got an hosting account at Godaddy and i want to move my Wordpress Site which is currently active at another host to Godaddy.

How can i achieve this please cos Godaddy's customer care online chat is not working.

You can use a free plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/ (see the video)

it makes a full backup (files/database) of your current installation.

It should be as simple as logging into your cPanel control panel and making a backup, then asking your host to restore the backup on the new server.

There are a lot of ways to move WordPress, but this is how we do it 99% of the time and rarely have issues.

When you move a site, you must replace the old URLs and paths with the new ones. Some of these are stored in the database in 'serialized' form where the string length is stored along with the string. You must use special tools to search and replace the old values with the new ones. If you replace an old URL with a new one of a different length, it will break the serialization, causing many different problems.

The OP didn't say anything about changing domain name. The impression they left was they just want to move hosting accounts. If that is true, then there is no need to change any urls in the backup copy of their site.
