How Long Should It Take You to Write a Blog Post?

Hubspot has an article on how long should it take you to write a blog post backed up with some data collected. Ultimately though:
Quote:
...The question of how long to spend writing a blog post is related to the question of how long your blog posts should be. The answer? As long as it needs to be.

Blog posts should be as long as they need to be to serve their purpose -- whether that's thought leadership, driving leads, explaining a new concept, etc.

Some quick posts could take under an hour to write; others might take several hours if they require you to go really in-depth. The time to write each individual blog posts can vary, but we've found that -- on average -- marketers are spending 1-2 hours per post...
How Long Should It Take You to Write a Blog Post? [New Data]

Note: The time quoted above is in answer to the question of how long 4000 participants take to write a 500 word blog post.

500 words isn't really that long of a blog post...

Honestly, I think it just comes down to user experience. What is best for your readers? Would they want to read a 4000 word article or would they exit right after seeing how long it is. Yes, you can benchmark against other companies, but all sites are different.

I haven't written one in quite some time. But in the past, if I didn't have to do that much research I could crank out and publish 500 words in around an hour.

I spent about 4-days on one, but I had to do a ton of research. Sadly, for various reasons I never published it. That one was probably 2000 words or so.

Above 550 words is sufficient but if you want to write perfect article then atleast 1100 words needed.

I write technical articles on the niche of HVAC (Heating ventilation air conditioning) in Greek. Big G likes my articles, and i rank pretty well for many niche keywords in google . gr

Writing a very good quality article on a high competitive keyword like "best air conditioners" (in Greek) that will rank 1st page, takes me an entire day of work.

Writing trully great content that will rank 1st or 2nd result takes me 2 to 3 days.

As you can understand, i do not blog often. But when i do, i try to do it good.

Numbers of words depends on you, How early you want to share main topic or tips to your readers. You can see few blogs with less than 300 words of content, due to helpful information, enough visits and social sharing.

Even Few blogs may need more than 1000 words, because there may be few subject or example to explain easily and in brief.

I don't think so word count will matter. Your title and content must informative and user friendly. Instead of paragraph use proper heading and sub headings so people easily understand the summary of your post.

It really comes to user experience. But as the author said that an article is as long as it needs to be, I can say that it should take as long as it needs to take to write it.
In order to write a good article, you need to document yourself, documentation can take from hours to a day.
Sure, if you are in a hurry you can write a sloppy article in less than an hour, but remember that you want to make money with your blog. Do you think you can make money with sloppy articles?

Yes, but do these 300 word articles make it No1 on a competitive 1 word keyword, or on a long tale 3 or 4 word keyword?

I doubt you can produce a "great content article" in just 300 words, or at least you cannot do that on a very competitive keyword.

Well I think it actually depends on how well you know (or don't know) the topic of your article...but yeah as an example, for a short article (300 to 400) words on a topic I already know, it usually takes me 1 to 2 hours, though it can still vary a lot

I thinks it depends upon the article topic. A minimum length should be 300 word, less than 300 word article make no sense. The maximum length should be 1500 words, if your articles too long then divide it in two parts. So user doesn't feel irritating to scroll down or find less knowledge and leave your post.

You surely can`t. I don`t think you can even rank on page one with a 300 word article if you aren`t an authority website.
As I said before, your aim should be to cover the topic from as many angles as possible and maybe offer some info that can`t be found anywhere on the web.

It Depends. When you write an common one, a few hours is enough, but if you're really writing a great post to get some organic traffic and going viral, it demands time. I know a guy who researched more than a year just to write a single post !

It really depends of topic. For me writing a new blog post usually takes from me like 2-3 hours without any break.

Everything depends on the length of the blog entry. If it is a short information entry, it will not take more than 30-40min. But good quality articles and can sometimes take a week, including information gathering, writing, corrections, etc.

Hi,

If you want to write a well informative article with supported images, videos, screenshots with more than 1000 words then I will take almost 6 to 8 hours based on content I chose to write.

Average quality article will take six hours for me, if I practice regularly it may come down, normally it depends on the IQ level of the individual.

3-4 Hours not more than that, the reason being they are good for seos but then you will have to concentrate more on content rather than seos and all as i am also new to this ,i am learning new things everyday
