There is no difference between an article and a blog post. By definition, an article should be longer and blog posts are shorter than articles. But, with the expansion of blogs and bloggers, blog posts vary in length as well as in the choice of topics. You can call your content however you like, as long as it's relevant, informative and of high quality.

These are few differences between blog and article:

Blog is usually written in first person and article in the second or third person.

Blogs are designed to scan and articles are written for carefully reading

Blogs have tips, lessons etc and articles have analyses, reports etc

Blogs are shorter and articles are bit longer.

I think this is the best definition of differences.

I don't and don't think any of the other replies like this really address what the OP was asking.

Some people write articles which they submit to different places (sites they do not own). These can be written in general terms or from their own experience (explaining steps they personally took to reach the goal/task).

A blog post can be written the same way.

Although blogs started as personal weblogs (which were really online journals) now businesses and writers share their knowledge on blogs through articles/blog posts. i.e. if you own the site your blog posts can be considered articles if not written as an online journal.

I think the OP has gotten confused because the way people use material they write. Some write material for submission to other sites and call them articles. In which person it is written does not define whether a piece of writing is an article or a blog post. The same material can be posted to a blog as a guest blogger or on your own blog and it is still an article.

Readers can
  • subscribe to an article site or a blog
  • scan an article or blog post (if written properly)
An article or a blog post can remain static if the site owner does not update it or decides that there will be no interaction with the readers.

I'd say there's not much difference between the two words. Both of them means "piece of writing." The word article is commonly used in a newspaper, magazine or reference book, while blog is commonly used in web sites.

I look at it as the same thing as asking...

What's the difference between Magazines and Tabloids...

The short answer, Not Much.

The longer answer...basically when I think of "Articles" I think of information that is put out using sources and/or facts. When I think of a blog post I think of someone giving their opinion, writing something inflammatory, or just a short update on something.

This is just me personally, obviously everyone is going to have their own opinion.

I can say about Articles or blog, when you write an article then you need to create article around 500 words and you can submit or promote your 2 to 4 articles in a month.

when you go for write a blog then you need to create blog around 1000 words and you need to update your blog daily or weekly basis this is good way for blog promotion.

Articles are one-way communication posts available on websites, whereas blog is two way communicative place where you can engage with the writer to clarify your doubts or share your thoughts about that topic

A blog is one kind of an article. An article for general term, is a long written material that mainly informs. A written news or a piece written in magazines or journals could also be called an article.

Blog could also pertain to the website or platform where you publish your written pieces. "Do you have a blog?"

I think Article, content, blog post are same term. They have little difference in their length. Article will be long and blog post will be summarize feature of an article so it's clear that every blog post may an article but every article may not blog a post.

Basic Differences:
- Blog based on your own thoughts or opinion while in Article your opinion isnt allowed.
- Blog is usually short ends with conclusion while an Article is longer more then 300 words.
- Strickted by SEO keywords, while Article free from SEO keywords.
- Grammar and spelling must be maintained in Blog, while in Article isnt necesarry.
- Blog is self-published no editor involved while Article prrofed then published by magzine.

When I started to reading this post for the answer, and viewing different source that I realized there is little bit difference of article and blog, where an article is a piece of writing included with others in a newspaper, magazine, or other publication and blog is a regularly updated web page on the website.
