I would say that a random blog ( or websites like I have tried ) never will do well.

Boing Boing is not random from my point of view. Sure they may cover many topics, but as far as I can see the posts are always odd, off beat, new craze or IT based news. Boing Boing can not be random as there are some topics that you know will never be written about.
If a blog is completely random and each post has no relationship with the next, then:
- users would have no point to go to another page on the site (= low page views per visit)
- Do not find any similar items on the RSS feeds ( = low RSS feed usage)
- Have little reason to return to see more of the site ( = low return rate )
There are random blogs that might hit one out of 3 topics ( eg sex, drugs or rock and roll ) and then there are the random blogs that will never post a similar post again.
Also random blogs or webpages are very hard to submit to most category based systems (dmoz, directories, advertisment networks) as the webmaster can not decide on the category.
My first thoughts on a domain like
http://www.nooblie.com/ is that I expect that domain to be for noob's.
I would not expect it to go into anything too advanced like quantum physics. If you targeted at noob's with that domain it would not be random as I would think it was for teaching, tutorials or how-to guides. What you might teach may be different topics, but as long as it is aimed at the noob's (what is your target demographic???) it is not really random.
Anyway that is my mumblings for old 2 cents.
