I just would like to know that if a person wants to create a new free blog what site/service/platform will you recommend him? Also let me know why.

Yes i would. I did not know how good is, untill i tried it. I installed word press onto the server and start posting. I thought that nobody else read it, except me. But i was wrong. Today i had 5 visitors. I know it is funny, but it is my competetive design for a seo contest.

Well blogging is a really usefull way for express Yourself, i thing, so do not wait, lauch it as soon as You can.

I would recommend Blogger for a free blog on their hosting. If you have your own hosting, I would recommend using the whole Wordpress thing - not the 'hosted-by-them' thing. I pick blogger because I think it is easier to customize and much easier to put Adsense on.

Thanks for all the replies, My Requirements and limitations are

1) I can't manage scripts and coding but can do small tweaking.
2) I do not have my own server so want a free hosting service.

But I am not sure whether blogspot is a good idea for long term. I have also started a thread "Is Blogspot good for serious and long term blogging?"

Wordpress would be my choice. It's open source, plenty of community support, themes, and plugins that are readily available.

I recently wrote one article on why blogspot will die soon. Can I put a link to the article at WMW (it is available under community building forum)?

The biggest factor is "no community involvement" for blogspot development. They think they can make the things perfect. "Community vs experts", I will always bet my money on community and thats wordpress. I myself had done some plugins for wordpress.

Blogspot is good for phase 1 of blogging as it is simple to start with but not good for second phase which needs advance integration with other products (some will be non-google). Blog is 75% about content and blogger but rest 25% can make some big change. 25% is about integration and promotion.
The problem with wordpress is that it was never accepted as a platform. I have already made the code open source where you can create multi blogs using wordpress as platform (one installation but multi blogs). If I have the permission I can put the link to the complete article.

For free blog hosts you can go for wordpress.com, blogsome.com, hedir.com and many more sites that run wordpress as platform. Ask following questions to the host

1) Why are you providing me a blog free? What will you get from it?
2) How will you help me with marketing?
3) What flexibility I have in editing my blog?

Setup an account on several of the big ones, Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal, Wordpress, etc. and see which one fits you best.
