Integrating a Blog to a Static Website

My company wants to create a simple blog. The idea is to have it link to the company's static website with the idea that the SEs will crawl the blog often due to new content and will follow the link to the static website and crawl that as often.

I have read that some company's have done this, but I am curious what others have done and to get others opinions about how to integrate a blog to a static website.

Make the blog look connected with the company site, but not exactly the same. You want people to know that they're at the company's blog, but also that they're at the company's blog. Tricky, I know.

Other than that, just link to it. You might want to check out how other companies are doing it.

Get a blog design that matches the rest of your site, and make a few alterations so that it matches AND stands out.

1. install the blog in a sub-folder of your main site or create a sub-domain
2. skin the blog to have the same look and feel of your main site
3. link to your blog from the main site

If I wanted to skin the blog to make it look like the main site, who can do that and how much would something like that cost?

... unless you know someone who can do it for free. Or at least is already on the payroll and can use company time that they're already being paid for.

post is a job offer in the services section in any busy forum like dp and v7n and you'll get loads of responses...

I think the first question to answer is "why do you want a corporate blog for"?

I mean , for every blog set up, resources are spent, and if it doesn't equal up in ROI, there is no reason for a corporate blog. Find out what are the objectives of the blog are first. Are they product blogs, customer feedback blogs, ceo blogs, news blogs?

I think a corporate blog is a great idea. It's an opportunity to stay connected with the customers and show them that REAL people are really working on the site and keeping it current. When I see a new site online with updates within a week or so (dated) it tells me that people are indeed working the site and I can trust placing an order with them.

Plus theirs the value of the content and the extra visitors / links it may bring. The ability to promote particular blogs, thank certain customers or manufacturers, etc.

measuring the ROI of a blog would be pretty difficult though seeing as how a corporate blog wouldn't likely incorporate adsense or anything like that. It really wouldn't generate revenue... in an obvious sense at least.

Im using a blog as my company site and the feedback has been Very positive from clients so far. I think if you are a small business a blog is the way to go, it's more personal, and its especially effective if you have clients that will continue to upgrade or but product from you, and will subscribe to your RSS feeds.

I don't know that I will ever build a regualr site.
