The questions you should ask yourself before you make a post on your blog
Hi,
Nowadays you can see everywhere that many people make thousands of dollars through blogging. This has made many others to think about starting a blog whereas 99% of them can not write a single 500 words article on their own. They know that they are not suitable for blogging but can not ignore the money that their blog can make for them because they have heard that it makes money.
So they have one options: Creating a spam blog (also known as splog) that steals other blogs contents automatically and so doesn't need any article to be written by the blog owner. They think that such a blog will make money too but it can not make a single cent because as I said it is called spam blog. No search engine will rank it and nobody will be interested in reading it because its posts are defective, non-sense and off topic.
So if you are a blogger and you can not write about the topic that your blog is about, you are wasting your time. If you can write but don't know "how" but just post something on your blog everyday to keep it updated, again you are wasting your time and you will give up soon.
I see many bloggers, just make some posts everyday to say they have updated their blog. When you read their posts, you decide not to be back to their blog again. If you don't like to be such a blogger and have such a blog, before you make a post ask yourself, "What's the point? What do I want to achieve? What reaction am I aiming for? What do I want the reader to do after reading my post?"
Don't make a post on your blog just to keep your blog updated. Post something that makes an impact in your readers life and business.

To each his own.
Not everyone is a great writer like you. If someone is updating their blog daily then they're trying. It might not make them a whole lot of money but they are trying.
Whats it got to do with you anyway? Stop worrying about others and worry about yourself.

Isn't the whole purpose of a forum to help each other out? If it helps, great. If not, no worries.

Good points Vahid.
Everyone has different levels of blogging experience, so whilst this information might be not useful for some, for many it will be.

I am exactly worried about myself not others
The problem is that when they want to update their blogs and have nothing to write about, they come to the blogs like mine and steal the content.
Every week, I spend a lot of time to find and report the websites/weblogs that steal my content. I am sure other bloggers have the same problem because I am in touch with them.

Why do blogs need a vast audience? Why does money even have to enter into it? Some blogs have an audience of one, and one only, namely, the author.
Some people see blogging as a substitute for a diary. What's wrong with that? You don't have to read them, nor does anyone else. True, they don't often make for engaging and scintillating reading, but that isn't always the point. Some people blog for the sake of it, not to conquer market share. They're doing fine.
Your advice does apply to blogs that want to make a buck, though, and in that context you gave really good advice. So I agree that blogs out for dough should try to engage their readers and not update for the mere sake of it.

Its OK Ed, you have an audience of more than 1 I do agree on the need for a vast audience. I am trying to create the time to get a blog going. Mostly just for myself and hopefully a small audience eventually. Just a place to vent on stupid things I see or goof off and ask crazy questions that it is difficult to find people of common interest to talk with about. I don't plan on making any serious attempt to "monetize" it or anything. It will be more for me than for anyone else.

Well...I do a combination of everything.
Yes, I write my own articles..I had one on Google PR buzz just recently.
I ask others to send in contributions, via press releases, and relevant info pertaining to what the blog is about.
I have RSS feeds and links to sites and feeds that are important to the theme.
I take a little of everything, because I am no master mind, and I know the people that read this particular blog, don't want my opinion all the time..they want to know "what's up?".
Works great for me, and i wouldn't have it any other way.
..and I'm just getting started.

He's talking of blogs as of ways to make money, that's why vast audience is needed.

I know. I just wanted to mention that blogs don't have to be for money. I can be annoying sometimes.
But not when I scream showtunes off my balcony. My neighbors love that.

Not for money. bite your tongue.
You are correct, there are a lot of really good ones that are not about money.
I am hoping they are not mine. Just joking.
Cheers

I use my blog to keep track of articles that I want to be able to go back to years from now and read again. Its not very often I have time or even the creativity to put words together so that other may enjoy what I'm posting. Yet, oddly enough, people come back and new visitors stumble upon my pages everyday.

Do you offer syndication of your blog? (An RSS feed.) If so, it's not stealing because by definition, Syndication means others can republish it. If you syndicate your blog (make a feed available) to readers, then other web sites can republish your work as long as they attribute it to you. If you don't syndicate it, and they scrape your site, then that's stealing.
Granted, I don't advocate splogs, or stealing content...Just realize the pros and cons of having a blog.
