Wordpress.org Help!
I really need help on this one.
I have 2 wordpress blogs, the one that is hosted on our servers, I had to install the theme by hand, and I never want to do that again.
I am in the process of hosting the other one.
I know that there is an application that will make installation of themes and plug ins simpler. What is it? Where do i find it? and what do I need to install it?
I would really appreciate help here, I do not want to do anymore hand installations, and I would like to use a few plug ins now for a new blog.
Everything I read say's: "Click the Plug ins tab. Once you have installed the plug in.."
What's in between that! How do you install the plug in!?
Thanks

Is there?
I don't think so.......
You need to upload the plugins/themes and activate them.

I guess there is something wrong with me, I cannot figure out how to install anything on Wordpress...I end up doing everything by hand.
All the instructions seem to say the same thing..."after you have installed the plug in.."

Are you trying to upload to your own site? Or, are you trying to make changes to one that is hosted by wordpress.com?
Wordpress.com is free hosting for personal blogs and is handled very differently than if your are uploading stuff to your own hosting space.

No. It's for a new one that I am starting that I will be hosting on our servers.(not the one in my profile, that is a dry run for the upcoming one)
It will be wordpress.org (the newer version).
With my other Wordpress site, (the one in my sig), I have never been able to figure out how to upload themes, or plug ins. I have read the instructions over and over, and they seem to jump from "Click the plug ins tab." to "Once you have installed....."
So, as I have mentioned, I have had to do it by hand, individually copying and pasting:
The Style Sheet
Pop up comments
Comments
Footer
Header
Main Index
Side Bar. (and that's all the options I have to install anything)
And then mess around and make changes by hand. and I don't write code!
and I know there has to be an easier way.
When I click the "Plug ins" there is..."Plug ins" and "Plug in Editor", neither of which gives any kind of instruction or area for installing anything.
It shows the Plug ins that are installed, but it gives me no option for adding anything, so my question is...am I a complete idiot, or is my Wordpress missing something?
Everyone keeps saying, "you need to upload the file" Upload it where? and how...using what?
Is there some sort of installer that everyone has but me?

WordPress.com is very limited in what they allow there, so you have to refer to their options (if any).
However, for Wordpress you have installed on your server:
Plugins
Okay, first I unzip anything if it was zipped, and then I upload it to the plugin folder which is inside the wp-content folder. Once I have it uploaded, I go to the admin panel of my blog (the dashboard) and click on the plugins tab. Once you are on the plugins page, scroll down until you see the new plugin you just uploaded, and click activate. (Make sure the new plugin is compatible with the version of WordPress that you are using.)
Themes
Upload the new theme (after unzipping it) to the theme folder which is inside the wp-content folder. Once I have it uploaded, I go to the admin panel of my blog (the dashboard) and click on the presentation tab, and then scroll down until you see the new theme you just installed. Click on the theme you would like to use and you are set to go. (Make sure the new theme is compatible with the version of WordPress that you are using.) To make code or style changes to the theme you are using just click on theme editor.

You are doing the same thing to me How do I upload it?
I understand unzipping the files and where to find them once they are there.
What I don't understand is How?
I hope I don't come off as an idiot, because I am very thankful for your help, but everything that I have ever installed or uploaded, has an installer, or a "Click here to up load" or something with direction!
How do I get the file from where they are (unzipped), to where it's supposed to be.
What vehicle do I use? What keystroke? what mouse click? what instrument?
Do I physically have to copy and paste each element into the file, one by one?

Awww, now I understand. You need a way to FTP the files to your hosting space, in the same manner that you uploaded WordPress. Some folks use a program such as FileZilla. I happen to use WS_FTP Pro.
