Best and worst are the relative term.
For Vulture, filthy meat is the best and for our need, that is the worst.
For general blog only, wordpress is easy.
For little extra like integrated CMS Joomla is the first candidate.

I am looking to blog and am still learning. I was told to use Blogspot. Is this something different than you all are talking about, or is Blogspot a similar thing as Wordpress?

Similar as they are both for blogs.
With Blogspot, you'll have yoursubdomain.blogspot.com
Wordpress does the same thing
(they can both host your blog)
Although with Wordpress, you can download it and use your own host.
