Unusual spam question

I don't know why, but I like looking to see which of my posts are getting the most spam comments. Maybe that makes me weird, I don't know.

But for whatever reason, my older posts are getting a lot more spam than the newer ones, which get almost nothing.

Does this happen for anyone else? And is there a reason for it?

Spammers likely target the older posts because they are looking for PR.

Is there any reason why they would all be hitting the same posts though? It's 2 or 3 that I notice getting everything.

Probably the post that comes up the most in search engines.

Yep, it's the older blog posts the spammers go for.

If your using WP there is a plugin you can add which stops comments being added on older posts of a # of weeks or months.

[shrug] That's something that I've thought about, but I'd really like to be able to get comments on everything. And Askimet is catching everything so it's not like it's slipping through for the users to see.

Thanks for showing me that plugin though. I might have a use for it in the future.
