Wordpress....?
Can adsense be added within a post on a Wordpress blog?
We have one that it works on and we have a new website were it doesnt.
Also what are the benefits of "permalinks" and "pages" instead of "posts"?
I see an option for "pages" instead of "posts" whats the difference?
Thanks!

Do you mean on a Wordpress.com blog? Or do you mean on a blog that runs using the Wordpress platform running on your own domain?
If you run WP on your own domain, you can run adsense. Otherwise, I don't know. Check the TOS at wordpress.com.

You should be able to. However some installations of wordpress I have found sometimes work differently than others. Pages is an option where you can create a permanent "page". Meaning that instead of post being added to it as a normal blog it can act as .com/about . To get the .com/about you would need to type in the slug section "about". Post would be your normal blog post. In case you didnt know and aside from your question wordpress can be used as an easy to use full featured cms.

We use the wordpress platform on our own domain. So I will have to play around with the adsense. What is the benefit of using "pages" why have it as an option?

You can set it up so the code comes after the first post, inside a post, after the first 3 posts, in the sidebar, at the bottom of every page...
Basically however you want, although some ways are easier to pull off than others.

The idea of 'pages' is that you might want to write a post that you periodically edit-- which is generally not done in blogs. Most often, these are used for "about me" pages which you might want to edit. They are also sometimes used to describe products or services available.
For example, I'm working on a plugin that lets you automatically add "nofollow" to back links in certain domains. (Like, say you used to link John Chow, but no longer wish to give him link juice.) While developing the plugin, I blog about it, but eventually, when it's ready for primetime, I'll create a static page so people who want information about the plugin.

A page is just like a post. but a post which is alredy there like if u wanna tell features about your site or any contact detail you can have it on thse pages. so its very useful of having things like pages. as the user would see the link to that page and would easily see the things which u want him to see without searching for it.

Oh, I see. I had read that pages were better for SEO then posts. So I wasnt sure. I was able to put the adsense in no problem, but the newest version of wordpress is a little different. I was able to place adsense within the posts in my older blogs, but on the newer ones it doesn't always work. So I can add it on the blog main page, see how that goes.

You can put adsense in any WordPress blog posts several ways. The easiest is to use the "Adsense Deluxe Plugin".
I use this at my blog, which runs WP 2.1.3. It should continue to work for future versions of WP because you don't have to put the javascript in the box you edit.

You're welcome. Interestingly enough, I pre-write my posts. The one discussing Adsense Deluxe should appear in about an hour! It's a great plugin.

Oh... I don't say much about it. My blog is new, but the few readers I have are interested in plugins and solutions that make it easier to use all these various monetizing services. The adsense plugin is a very convenient plugin for publishers because you can easily put your ad in a "hotspot" and still make the post look ok.
When I can't find useful plugins for things publishers might want to do, I'm writing them. I wrote a plugin that lets you automatically add "nofollow" to posts in a particular category. Some visitors are going to use that for sponsored posts. The plugin does a few more things. (You can also automatically add "nofollow" to sites you used to like, but no longer like. The thread discussing John Chow selling links and people wishing they could yank back their old links made me think of the idea.)
