What do you read in blogposts?
Hi all,
I want to know about the readablility of the blogs. What exactly you people read in blogpost? Titles only, headings or the whole article?
Regards,

I started writing a really good response to this, lengthy, but content-filled... then I pressed the home button by accident and lost it.
If I feel like it later, I'll rewrite it.

Funny. 90% of the blogs that I check out from forum sigs, I just read the headline.
Sadly, especially SEO blogs, if you click through enough of them, you start to see the same subjects and headlines rotating through all of them, so I really don't read those more than once a week, if that.
All others, I get as far as the first paragraph, if it doesn't catch me, I move on...I imagine just like everyone else.

First the title, and then probably the first paragraph. If it is a good post, the whole thing.

Well, thanks everyone for the response. I've been doing research on the readablility of blogposts for sometime, and came up with the opinion that 90% readers read the title only, 8% read one/two lines or paragraphs and rest read the full article. The reason behind this is actually what EBORG9 has mentioned.

I often look at the headline and if it looks like something that interests me, I'll start reading the introduction paragraph. If I am still captivated, I'll quickly browse the bullet points and lists to see if I'd like to read the rest. If they pass my test, I'll read the whole article.
Here are a few headline resources bloggers might find useful (keep in mind some of these articles disagree with each other, but you can decide what works for you): - Copyblogger's articles on Headlines
- Go Big or Go Home
- The Sexy Art of Writing Headlines that Kill
If I remember any more, I'll dig them up and post them, but that should get anyone started. Just one note of caution: Don't use all of your flash in the headline and save the trash for the post. Make sure the title is just enough to grab the readers attention and make them want to read your content.
Hopefully that wasn't too off subject.

Title, then if I'm interested I'll scan headings -- still interested, I'll scan & occasionally read content.

When I visit a blog, the first thing I read is its blog archives. Then I choose topics that are related to my interest. If the title is very impressive, then I read its full article...

I read the content, providing it's not a huge block of solid text.
If it's broken up into small paragraphs, formatted nicely, uses punctuation correctly etc (basically, easy to read), I'll read the whole thing.
The way I write my blog is the way I like others to look, but I appreciate that others may not like the layout as much

First I scan the title of their posts and if I find its title interesting, then that's the time I read the whole content of the article.
