What are the A,B,C's of starting a Blog

I think starting a blog would be fun. I just don' t know how. Could someone help me out?

Yes, blogging is not less than fun. And it's very easy to take a start, but you need to work enough to maintain the tempo. You can take a start either with a free Wordpress or Blogger account or can have your own domain and install a blogging script on it. Besides the technical issue, you must have some blogy nature, i.e. love for writing. Whatever you write, should be unique so that search engines will fall in love with your blogposts, you'll have more fun then.

Just do this and take a start.

Decide on what you want to blog about ... what are your interests? Think about what you really enjoy spending time on (keep it clean ) then blog ...

It's always sensible to write about something you're passionate and knowledgeable about. Don't be too worried if it's a niche subject because the web is that wide and diverse that some people will still be interested. Try and remain enthusiastic and keep writing. Traffic will come with time.

Writing a unique content is the important factor of a blog. But first is identify your target audience and most visited by the users.

1. Get your own domain and hosting.
2. Pick a topic you enjoy.
3. Write unique articles. If you must re-hash, give the post your own unique spin or opinion.
4. Write consistently.
5. Sign up for technorati so you can see who links to you and stuff.
6. Don't steal others' articles - they will hate you, and visitors won't be impressed by someone who posts others' content.
7. Link liberally. Saw a cool article somewhere else that you want to talk about on your site? Make sure you give them a link. When it comes to links, what goes around comes around.
8. See if you can swap blogroll links will friends or relevant sites.

That's all I can think of for now. Making money off your blogging is another thing, and requires other things. Problogger.net is overrated, and if you really want to know how to make money off your blog, trust me, they don't tell you the secrets.....

Definitely post on what you like, enjoy, are passionate about, etc, as the other posters have said earlier. The more interest you have in it, the more interest you'll get across, and people will stick around to read it.

Julie right above me has a great list, follow her ideas. I'd like to put an emphasis on writing consistently - go a while without posting, you'll lose readers. Readers like fresh new content. On the other hand, try to have something of interest to say every time you post, as well.

Also, if people comment, try to comment back - People will be more likely to keep commenting then, and it'll show that you're paying attention to your readers.

Hi, I'm new here but I have actually been blogging since January. I really love it since I can talk about almost anything. My focus on the first blog is news and politics. I do have a lot to say about that. LOL!

My second blog is more for giving tips on shopping and reviewing things I love to read, do or buy. It's fun and can bring you some cash once you have been on there for about three months. Not bad, huh?
