Who are you pinging? You should ping blogging services everytime you publish. You should ping blog articles you link when you post. Try to write some articles including links to other articles fairly regulary-- maybe every third blog post!

I heard that pinging is just like sending a notice everytime you post or something like that, but I don't know whether it is very important or not. But still I use pinging.

Auto Pinging like technorati etc get your site out there but pinging a specific blog/forum will get you a link on their site back to yours. Normally, nofollow but still ppl read and click.

Pinging tells SEs that their's an update in your blog and I agree with Mihai it helps boosts traffic...

Yes, but with http://pingomatic.com/ or equipalent web ping services, the number of pings is very limited, isn't it? but I agree that is very easy...

The service I use is called http://ping.in/ I use WordPress as my blogging platform of choice and I have turned off automatic pinging within wordpress so that I can do it manually with this service.

Be wary of pinging. You don't want to ping services to much or you put yourself at risk of being banned and that is not a good thing!

Hello Jeffro2pt0,

As I've said, I use ping-o-matic and pingoat. I usually update my blog as soon as there is changes in it. And it never mind that frequent pinging can make you some trouble. Now I know, thanks for the tips.

Thanks, I like this site as it is fairly easy and we don't need to do all those sorts of registration.
