How Do You Show Appreciation?
As a blogger, how do you show appreciation to your readers? Do you thank them when they comment? Do you send a personal email to anyone that leaves their first comment to your blog? Do you link to them or write a small review post for them? Without readers, your blog is nothing so I thought I'd ask how you show appreciation to those who call your blog home or at least stop by on a regular basis.
As for myself, I try to thank every person that leaves a good comment on my blog. If I'm in a really good mood, I'll write up a review about their blog so they have a link from within my content. Sometimes, I'll just link to the blog from within my blog roll. If I notice someone has linked to me via my admin control panel, I'll stop by and give that blog author a thank you and look for a way to contribute to their own blog. Recently, I've put up the names and links to everyone who has contributed to my blog via commenting inside of a big thank you post.
To those of you out their who love to thank your sponsors, it would be a good idea to thank your readers every now and then as well.

Comment to their blog, it's kind of reciprocal goodwill.

What about bloggers turning NO-FOLLOW OFF for commenter's? That would be a good sign of appreciation.

to blog with nofollow tag I would never put my comments even if I have something to say. whether you are millionaires or so-called expertise in one area sorry to say I won't support blog with nofollow tag. comments brings real estate value to blog post. with nofollow tag blog owners are denying the value these comments made to their post.

How Do You Show Appreciation?
Those readers who have blogs- comment on their blogs. Those who are readers - continue to write good content, it is what that attracts them to your blog in the first place. I mostly comment on blogs that are dofollow blogs.

there is a campaign who give credit to blog with dofollow tag. they have made an image that say "You Comment I Follow" or "U comment I Follow". it is a pluggin that remove the nofollow tag.

I show appreciation to a blog by writing a comments and telling that the blog is great. If it is related i usually exchange link to them and asking for their email.

I think do follow is a great way to thank your commenters....the only thing is you might draw attention to spammers and your blog will be swarming with spam comments....is there a way where you can choose who among your commenters you'd like to give a dofollow? I think it would be a great idea...

I always respond to blog comments, on my personal blog and on my content blogs. It's a matter of consideration and appreciation.

I occasionally write a big THANK YOU post which includes links to my commenter's sites. Quite a few people write articles thanking their sponsors but to many bloggers write thank you articles thanking their readers and community.

I would gladly thank my blog readers...If they commented...without spam. I have thanked V7N by linking to them, and some other useful sites (mostly news sources).
This brings up a little spin on this subject. How do your readers thank you for useful information posted in your blogs?

There's also a Top Commenter and Recent Comments plugin that shows a list in your sidebar.

If you're using Wordpress, there is a plugin that allows you to apply conditional no-follow, called "NoFollow Case By Case". I have not yet used it, but it sounds great.

I agree with you full way here. Your visitors depending on who they are should come to your site because of your content and to get some goodies out of you. The Do-follow is a great way to give incentives to your reader but it shouldn't be your primary focus.

If somebody left comment in my blog I definitely post a follow up comment and thank them. After that, I will visit their blogs and drop some comments too...

Reciprocate with a comment usually, but I also write posts about visitors who contribute regularly on my blog.
