I am planning to integrate a blog in my website. I need to know about the important points that has to be taken care before integrating the blog into the site. Also provide me the suggestions in terms of SEO.

Broad question there, but I'll start by suggesting a subdomain to your site for the use of your blog. There are arguments all over the board for why this is good/bad, doing some research before getting started will save you the hassle of transfer and redirects down the road.

Also, keep your blog focused on the website it's complimenting, avoid general posts. Deep linking is also your friend and the more you can talk about pages in your main site and link to them the better.
