How do I know if anyone is reading my blog?
I love blogging. It's better than annoying people with all my thoughts; I find I can dump it all into one of my blogs (I have business and personal blogs on different topics) and then not bore my friends! But I do work at my writing and it feels like pissing in the wind, ya know? I do get the occasional comment. How do I get people to comment more? The one I've worked hardest at has a feed and I know people must be subscribed. I get maybe 2 comments a month. I run into people who know me from that blog so that is pretty cool. But why no comments and how to get them?

I'd suggest making an effort to ensure that your blog entries are open-ended. Put out your thoughts but directly encourage others to rebut or reinforce your thoughts. Openly solicit comments.
I see a lot of blog entries where the poster puts out his thoughts on a subject but then just leaves it at that. If people percieve your posts as being 'the authority' on a subject, they're much less likely to add their own thoughts as comments.

I think I have the answer to your last question.
<url removed>
Here is a short summary.
Make your post attractive
Besides choosing a good topic, making it attractive to your readers is like inviting them to post a comment.
Invite them
Besides your conclusion for your post, you can invite them to post their comments and suggestions in your footnote. A good quote at the end of your post can also attract comments.
Leave them a space
A good post is worth replying for, but if you already discussed each detail then they will have nothing more to comment.
Acknowledge them
Although there is a little chance that they will come back to see your reply, posting a reply is a good attitude. This means you are concern with their comments.
Do not drive them away
Some readers would like to leave a comment but you may be driving them away unintentionally. Avoid requiring them to register or answer a question before they can comment.
Commentators are valid customers, so put yourself in their shoes.
Good luck!

increasing traffic of your blog is one symptom of reading your blog, use blog statistical tools to determine your number of unique visitors.

Continue writing unique contents with your targeted keywords. You can put a "statcounter" (just an example) for you to monitor your visitors =)

I use Google Analytics to track my blogs.

Pretty useful for what I want to acheive.

If you are using blogger., you register first to google analytics to view the web site who vists your blog site. If you're using wordpress, just click the Daschboard and you can see the blog status of your blogs.

Wow a bunch of you read her title but not the message.
Remove the rel="nofollow" tag from commenter's hyperlinks. There are a number of plugins that do this. This rewards your commentors with a little link luv.
There are several do follow lists and search engines that you can then submit your blog to.
In no time flat you are going to have problems with too many comments.
