Since your post is the 3rd reference to Netbeans in this thread, curiosity got the better of me and I went to their site. It looks very interesting but is probably more power than I need right now. Sorta like getting a Ferrari to drive in Barbados when we’re only 14 miles wide by 21 miles long. Its only purpose would be to show off!

I use Netscape 7.2 Composer for HTML. It works the best for me, and is easy to use.

How did you do that, mint1? I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I, like others, am subscribed to this thread and the copy of your post (quoted here) in the notification email from V7N contains a link to what I presume is your site. Was that meant to be a way to circumvent a V7N rule against advertising?
Incidentally, you had better remove the XHTML and CSS web badges from that page because neither the markup nor the CSS is valid. The markup contains 166 errors (that’s probably the most errors I’ve ever seen on a page that claims to have valid markup) and 51 warnings and the CSS has 16 errors.
Be that as it may, thanks for informing us about DW and Eclips.
EDIT: Oops! My bad. I just noticed that htmlbasictutor edited your post. Therefore he must have removed the link. I thought you had discovered a way to add something extra in the email message that wouldn’t show in the post! LOL

Dreamweaver CS3 for coding any web stuff, and Photoshop CS3 for designing any images (except maybe shapes in Illustrator CS3) and Flash CS3 for those sexy looking flash interfaces. All the way
EDIT: Oh, and Filezilla is the best free File Uploader.

Well, FireFTP (Firefox add-on) is also free and it’s just super, IMO.

Never heard of it, but I prefer Google Chrome over Firefox any day (But I do know people that prefer Firefox, just not many [At least, the ones who have tried Google Chrome], and I'm an ex-Firefox fan )

I also would say Komodo and Notepad++ also try Aptana Studio 1.5 which also has a code and view section like DW. The best one I think from these are Komodo.
With regards to Firefox I think its a personal choice but if your a web developer you need Firefox and Google Chrome plus to check IE from IE5 to IE8 you can download IETester which is open source and checks your website in all IE browsers. Its a great tool to use...

Is there an editor that works right in Firefox that's any good? An add on maybe?

I guess that's what Firebug is eh? Does anyone use that?
I've been using Filezilla as my file management tool and opening files from there using Crimson Editor as the default editor.

Abajan, what do you feel the advantages of FireFTP are over Filezilla? Is it also an editor? If not, what do you use to edit?

Komodo and Kompozer are my favorites. I use Komodo like a glorified notepad - and I use Kompozer for tables and tricky visual formatting. I think both were free...... (or next to nothing.) I find most programs overly complicated.
JMHO.

Not having used Filezilla, I can’t compare it to FireFTP. What I can tell you is that the convenience of just going to Tools > FireFTP to run it is nice but to my knowledge, it’s strictly for file transfers. For editing, I use Notepad++.
BTW, at first, your signature fooled me into thinking there was a bug crawling on my monitor’s screen (an old trick that still gets me) until I scrolled a little and noticed another bug crawling synchronously with the first one!

IDEs (Eclipse, NetBeans)
Pure Code (UltraEdit/UltraCompare) <-- Kick @ss because you can use regular expressions in search/replace.

Crimson Editor
Nobody mentioned "Crimson Editor". I found it recommended when I was taking the CSS tutorials on "Ifyoucodeiitheywillcome.com" and I've been using it ever since. Syntax highlighting, I don't really know anything else. scott

Crimson Editor gets very good reviews at Download.com and if I hadn’t been already using Notepad++, I would very likely have downloaded it. Such a powerful program wrapped in a tiny 1.19 MB file - Good things come in small packages indeed!
