Exclamation click link > page not found > redirect to alternate page

Hello;

Could somebody please supply me with a code-snippet, that, when the visitor clicks on a link, it will "redirect" that visitor to a 2nd webpage on my site, if the 1st webpage is "not found"?
... hopefully bypassing that nasty 404 page...

Reason: A third-party may post a certain HTM page via FTP. When the visitor clicks a link, it will look for THAT HTM page... if it finds it, it will bring it up - but, if not found, will bring up a certain alternate HTML page instead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank-You.

Well, you will have to have the page exist no matter what, or make sure you setup a 301 redirect to the new page.

There's no way other than that I do not believe.

I just had to modify my .htaccess file on the server.

Thanks anyway!
