Anyone developing in HTML5 already?

Hello all,

Recently I started watching websites developed in HTML5, and noticed some very interesting implementations, not sure if it's ok to post links but here are some:

martinhodgson.co.uk
leonardomaia.com.br
htmlemailgallery.com

And I was wondering if any of the devs here started using it already and what has been your experiences with it?

Did you create any project in html5?

Do you find it easier to implement than other markups? Does the usage of <header>, <nav>, <footer>, etc. improve the semantics of your code?

I don't think many developers will probably use HTML5. It's just useless IMHO. Doesn't really help anyone either.

3rd party addons will do just a great of job handling something (embedding flash) than if it were in HTML5.

Yeah the embedding features are not working very well yet and there is no support for many formats. but have you seen the rest?

It improves semantics, you can use:
HTML Code:
<header>...</header>
instead of
HTML Code:
<div id="header">...</div>
It is one step forward to convert websites into web services that can be read by any device/software and not only internet browsers. I'm considering moving to HTML5 but wanted to know what other devs think about it and how they are using it.

Google Wave will also be using HTML5 heavily so it looks like there is at least 1 major implementation in a massive service.

If you read through the public mailing list you'll see that they still have a lot of stuff to work out.

We have a long ways to go yet before it will be a recommendation.
2022, or when will HTML 5 be ready?

Ian Hickson, one of the specification editors, is from Google, Inc.

David Hyatt, from Apple, Inc., is also an editor.

spammer (j/k)

I just don't think HTML5 will gain much ground. It should have been released a long time ago.

XHTML = king
