Pop-up Fade Dialog

I want to create something like on this page when you click the "here" in the "Click here to log in" section.

How would I even go about starting? I poked around the code for a while and can't figure it out.

There's many ways.
jQuery would be what I would choose..

I believe there is a plugin called multibox - Or maybe that's for mootools?
But the jQuery UI has a dialog box that would be perfect - I think - for that. There's also jQuery alerts, which I found somewhere (can't remember where. Just try a google search)
