Cyberscript.net - another ripoff story

I bought a script from cyberscript.net a few years ago and have been basically happy with it. I had some brief communication with the developers and it was all good.

A few weeks ago I logged in and purchased an upgrade. I felt fairly comfortable because I had dealt with them before and there was no reason to suspect anything was wrong. However after they took my money, my licence didn't update and I couldn't access the upgrade. I tried to email them but they didn't answer. I tried to ring them and discovered their phone and fax has been disconnected. Since then I have been unable to get any response from them at all.

I've contacted Network Solutions (who host them), so far with no response.

I'm not so concerned about my money as I can contest the payment and get my CC company to reverse the charge. What I am worried about is that these people are still taking money without any intention of supplying the goods. What's the best way to warn others about these crooks?

I'm guessing they went under and never updated anything on their site, then saw people buying upgrades and left it as is...

The stupid thing is that I would still let them keep the money if they would just give me the upgrade. Instead I'm now going on a crusade warning others about them.

BTW, to paraphrase the response from Network Solutions:
"Dear Dave,
Yes, we know that people are using our service to conduct illegal activities and steal money from innocent victims. But we aren't going to stop them. It's not that we can't stop them, it's just that we can't be bothered. We have a court ruling that says we don't have to stop people using our servers to front their illegal operations. So basically, as long as they keep paying us, we don't care if they are ripping other people off."

aaaahhhhh!! Why is it I fnd this post AFTER I part with $150 for the script that never arrived!!!!

I find it amazing that cyberscript are on all the script resource directories with a high rating if they are ripping people off left, right and centre. I shall be posting some bad reviews and ratings if they don't deliver!!

Bah!!!

Gutted. The script looked really good too! Anyone seen anything else that compares. I've exhausted the CGI and PHP resource directories and nothing seems to do exactly what I want apart from easyhost.

Help appreciated.

Easy install......and IT WORKS - FIRST TIME!!!!

So.....I'll work it a while and let you all know how I get on.

Happy Christmas all

Well done. I tried everything... all the whois details etc. I even tried local phone directories with no luck. In the end I managed to convince the credit card company to reverse the charge.

Did the guy have anything to say for himself about the state of his website? Or why he never answers emails?

I'm happy to say this story finally has a happy ending. Ryan from cyberscript.net contacted me recently after finding this thread and was keen to make things right. He explained his situation and why things had gone wrong. I think he has been genuine in his attempts to fix things so I have decided to keep using the software.

I agree with julala - the latest version seems really good. I haven't given it a thorough workout yet but I'm optimistic that it will be up to the job. If anyone is looking for a script to let users have their own websites, this is a good mid-range package for a reasonable price.

Kudos to Ryan. We all make mistakes from time to time, what matters is putting them right.

Angry

Well, I just bought the full version of EasyHost yesterday for $299, and I haven't heard anything from CyberScripts.net or Ryan. And when I try to login to my "account" I get this message:

An Error Has Occured

The account you are trying to access is currently disabled

Does anyone have Ryan's current e-mail address and/ or phone number? $299 is a lot of money to me, and I'd like to either get the script or my money back. I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you!
