HELP! please Recommend an anti-spam captcha for on-line forms

We have tried several, free and paid for, but still cant seem to avoid the bots sending forms crammed with nasty links and text.

I know its an ongoing problem.....but what are peoples experiences with any counter measures they have tried?

thanks
D.

Never had a problem with recaptcha.

Is the email address actually displayed anywhere?

Ditto.

If worse comes to worst, you could always force the visitors to send the email manually.
Either that or get a better spam filter.

If the spam is coming from a the form, use something like recaptcha.

The bot cannot post the form unless the recaptcha matches, which it won't because it's a bot.

Going a bit off topic, I had never heard of reCAPTCHA before. So I Googled it and found this massive undertaking to be quite interesting. It’s kinda like the SETI@home project - but perhaps more worthwhile!

www.recaptcha.net is the most used one.

But if you are getting spam from people manually submitting instead of bots, then there is no captcha that is going to help you. In that case you will have to implement something to hold and approve pending messages.

Also there are php classes that will allow you to analyze messages and filter spam, like this one: http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/2275.html
