From what I can tell, none of the major browsers support
XForms. Why not? Compared to regular HTML forms, XForms seems to be a much better way to go for a number of reasons (like the ability to put as many forms on a single web page as one desires) but in order to practice coding the XForm way and see the results, I had to search until I could find an obscure browser called
X-Smiles.
Apparently, the better known browsers would have required add-ons or plugins and I preferred not to go that route. (Unfortunately, the
Firefox add-on is for older browser versions than mine, and installing and using such add-ons can cause serious problems.)
Until the standard is more widely supported,
IBM has come up with a less than ideal solution that ought not to be necessary considering how long XForms has been around.
