phpbb forum problem

Hello everyone!

I am having a problem with something on my forum (http://www.alftv.net/forum). I am attempting to make two members moderators. I can grant them the moderator privilages, but I can't give them the rank title. I go to user administration and get into their user information - I them select "moderator" under rank title - then hit "submit" --- but the problem is it STILL says "No special rank assigned" even AFTER I change it to moderator. Can anyone tell me any possible ways to fix this? Thanks!

I haven't used phpBB in a while, but can't you create a new rank and set that rank to have special privilages, like the moderator privilages....So just make a new rank, make it so they set number or posts is like 0 or what ever you have to do and make it by invite only and then they can become moderators...I think thats how you do it, its been a while since I have used phpBB.

Hi, thanks for responding. I already have "Moderator" set as a special rank with a post of 0 (by invite only) but when I select it and hit "submit" nothing changes.

EDIT: When I do the special rank change it'll give me the usual options - "return to user administration" and "return to forum index" (stuff like that) as if it DID do the rank change - but it hasn't.

I have a conforums3 forum, as you know, and I change the ranks there by clicking on the member's profile and selecting the new rank. I also work with a phpBB because a friend offered me the position of administrator. So I will look at that now...

OK, I see how you can change the ranks. It works here...

Thats Right, did you do what Dingodilelove said and choose the profile and set the rank for that person?

Yep, that's my whole problem - I enter their user information (profile) and select moderator, and press submit - but the changes don't occur. I get the information (return to main index, etc) which makes it seem like it made the changes, but the profiles remain the sane.

You could go in and edit the database manually if it comes down to it, but I think the user permissions part of the admin panel should work unless you've installed the forum incorrectly.

Everything worked fine until about a week ago - I used the rank title option now too long before that without any problems. I'll try the manual edit...I'm not 100% sure what file it is, but with some digging I should be able to find it.
