Too early to use HTML5?

Hello Friends

What is your view about using HTML5.
I thought it was too early to use it because it was new.
But heard that Google Wave was built as an HTML 5 app.
What do you think?
Am I rushing by starting using it?

Thanks

I don't think it's to early to start learning how to use it, I would if I knew how.

The final language specification has not been released yet, so it is early to start using it because it could change over time and your websites become obsolete.

But you should definitely start reading about it, and studying.

Milestones
The Working Group Schedule of Milestones is:

2007-05 HTML5 and Web Forms 2.0 specs adopted as basis for review
2007-11 HTML Design Principles First Public Working Draft
2008-02 HTML5 First Public Working Draft
2009-11 HTML5 Last Call Working Draft
* or is it Q1 2010?

2010-12? HTML5 Candidate Recommendation
2012-01? HTML5 Proposed Recommendation
2012-03? HTML5 Recommendation
Note: The future dates in the above list are estimates based on the schedule in the charter and are subject to change.
Reference: HTML » HTML Working Group @ W3C

If you look through the public-html@w3.org Mail Archives
(This is the mailing list of the W3C HTML Working Group, chartered in March 2007.) you will see that there still quite a few outstanding issues before this becomes a recommendation.

If you look at the editors for the HTML 5 Working Draft they are: Ian Hickson, Google, Inc. and David Hyatt, Apple, Inc.

It might not be a bad idea to experiment with it by setting up dummy webpages and viewing the results in various browser/platform combos. (Use Browsershots if access to different types of operating systems is impractical.)

Incidentally, quite a number of sites are already using HTML5 but Hades’ advice above is worth noting.
