Want to learn Programming Language

I want to learn Programming Language but wants your help to chose which language will be best for me and which language is your favorite. Please share your ideas it will be great help.

I just want to able to create applications like DU meter, FLV player, winrar etc
Mean I want to be a programmer a good programmer who has value to program something.

One more question: What is your current skill level and knowledge concerning computer stuff in general?

In general I am familiar with basics of C++, HTML and php and I am a student of computer science. Just this.

That's a nice basis.

In that case I'd recommend you to learn C++. I think most modern applications are programmed in C++ anyway.

Note: It takes some time to be able to program something like FLV player with C++ and C++ is usually not the best language to start with as it's rather complicated. I only recommend it to you because you already know about the basics and because you want to be a 'good programmer'.

You don't necessarily need a teacher to learn C++. I'm a self-taught programmer as well.

But you need to program a lot to learn programming. You won't learn it by reading books alone.

Hiring a good teacher is also a headache for me. Because I don't have any Good programming teacher nearby. Please recommend me a website or E-book.

I'm undergrad in comsci and I think enrolling in that course is the better way to learn the programming.. Actually, some teacher is not really good.. Wherein they will just discuss it in a simple way.. And I'm getting mad on them.. But one thing I learned is making friends with your classmate then try to ask to them and put in practice..

You can also learn it by searching through net or reading in books.. BUT practice is really important to test out if your getting it in the right way.

Actually this coming may I'm going to continue my studies.. And it's time to work my brain again and dealing with many codes..

You can try to join in forums who have a programming topic..

Hmm... Unfortunately, I don't really know any great websites or e-book to learn C++ from. I learned it from a German book some years ago...

But maybe there are some guys in here who can make any recommendation?

(In case there are none, you should listen to Cecille and join a programming forum..)
