Filenames

Hi,

If i upload some music files to my web server. Do i need to take out all of the spaces and replace them with underscores? If so, do you know an easy way to rename files for that purpose?

Thanks

You don't have to because the browser will automatically convert a space to %20.

Example:
My File.mp3 would be My%20File.mp3 in the browser.

I would suggest you do so the browser/server does not have to do the additional conversion. You could also have a problem if you are calling/linking the files via JavaScript.

I use a free utility called Change Case that can convert all the files in a folder.

NP. I use that tool all the time. It's two files the CHNGCASE.EXE and a CHNGCASE.DAT file. I keep it on my memory stick on my keychain.

What I love about it is that there is NO installation and it's really easy to use!

Pat Hall made a pretty useful program called CKrename... it's kick@ss and it's free... you can include wildcards, search and replace, change cases, etc...

Check it out...
Been using it for a couple of years and can't find anything similar...
