AJAX

Any coders around messing around with AJAX? (XMLHttpRequest)

Kind of like clientandserverside

think of constantly updating iframes, but not in iframes

i found the code for a ajax chat program tutorial, messed around with it

added user registration, userlist, timestamping, and a thing that takes urls posted and makes them into a link

also, f`d up the stylesheet some

All my ajax programs can be found at
http://m3lt.getmyip.com/php/ajax/

EDIT: oh yeah, the stylesheet might be f`d up, and it might have little to no functionality in Internet Explorer, but thats just cuz of how I did the div's and positioning stuff.. so uh.. download www.getfirefox.com and yeah
*site looks fine to me, but other screen res they say they get scrollbars and stuff, so yeah, hopefully you can atleast see its functionality

Looking forward to it. I've been learning a lot lately, mostly by having to deal with vBulletin.

I was thinking of using XMLHttpRequest for a chat script, never got round to it though

Glad to see it becoming widely known, as it hopefully is now unlikely to fall by the wayside. Support should just get better from here on increasing the viability of using it!

So much more elegant than hidden iframes!!

gnznroses is on the right pathgnznroses is on the right path
i had never heard of it before a couple days ago. i was trying to find a way to randomly include one of many files. to rotate ads. first i tried a javascript that does a document.write of different SSI commands, but it wouldn't work no matter what i did. maybe it was trying to execute the SSI inside of the javascript. but i finally found a solution with ajax. i still don't know what exactly it is, cause what i've got is still a javascript, but then again i don't know much outside of html and some css anyways...

I'm glad to see it being put to some good uses.
Does the "management attachments" pop-up use it?
