Mime Types on Index

Ok, I am going to use a custom mime type on my new website. I was wondering how I can make it so that http://www.website.com/ can show http://www.website.com/index.page. For some reason it is not working, I setup the mime type in the .htaccess.

You did not list your .htaccess but will this work?

Code:
DirectoryIndex index.page

DirectoryIndex is the files it looks for when you access just the /

obviously you need the index.page if you want to use .page, but make sure to have corresponding Mime-Type or you will mess up some viewers
