Question Speed issue, related to php file first time byte?

I'm currently working on trying to fix the loading speed of http://birdhat.com

It is very slow to respond and after running a speed test, the main issue that I can see, other than some images that could be optimized, is that the style-custom.php file has a long time to first byte. The file is located at: http://www.birdhat.com/wp-content/th....php?ver=3.5.1

This file is generated by the theme to fetch all of the custom styles from the theme's admin panel and the size of the generated file is only 14kb and does not take long to download, but the time to first byte is terrible, sometimes as long as 6 seconds.

Here is one of the speed tests that I ran where you can clearly see the massive time to first byte: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/13...ET0/1/details/

I can't think of what I can do to troubleshoot this. I'm also not sure why ?ver=3.5.1 is added to the end of the url as I can't see the version of the file specified anywhere.

Can anyone suggest why this file is having some a long time to first byte? Since it's a php file, could it be a server issue?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kesava

Kesava,

Have you tried putting all applicable css into a .css file and linking in in a more traditional manner to your template? This could make things happen faster.

Hope that helps,
Shawn
