RDFa - Semantic Web
For those that don't know, RDFa is one of the types of structured data you can add to your web pages.
Quote:
The mission of the RDFa Working Group, formerly the W3C RDF Web Application Working Group and part of the Semantic Web Activity, is to support the developing use of RDF for embedding and handling structured data in Web documents in general. The Working Group will publish W3C Recommendations to define HTML5 and XHTML5 as Host Languages for RDFa 1.1 Core.

HTML+RDFa 1.1 is a Proposed Recommendation
Quote:
The RDFa Working Group has published a Proposed Recommendation for HTML+RDFa 1.1. This specification defines rules and guidelines for adapting the RDFa Core 1.1 and RDFa Lite 1.1 specifications for use in HTML5 and XHTML5. The rules defined in this specification not only apply to HTML5 documents in non-XML and XML mode, but also to HTML4 and XHTML documents interpreted through the HTML5 parsing rules.
The Working Group has also published two Proposed Edited Recommendations for RDFa Core 1.1 and XHTML+RDFa 1.1, folding in the errata reported by the community since their publication as Recommendations in June 2012; all changes are editorial.

The RDFa Working Group today published three RDFa Recommendations. RDFa lets authors put machine-readable data in HTML documents. Using RDFa, authors may turn their existing human-visible text and links into machine-readable data without repeating content. Today's publications were:
•HTML+RDFa 1.1, which defines rules and guidelines for adapting the RDFa Core 1.1 and RDFa Lite 1.1 specifications for use in HTML5 and XHTML5. The rules defined in this specification not only apply to HTML5 documents in non-XML and XML mode, but also to HTML4 and XHTML documents interpreted through the HTML5 parsing rules.
•The group also published two Second Editions for RDFa Core 1.1 and XHTML+RDFa 1.1, folding in the errata reported by the community since their publication as Recommendations in June 2012; all changes were editorial.
•The group also updated the a RDFa 1.1 Primer.

RDF 1.1 Primer Note Published
Quote:
The RDF Working Group has published a Group Note of RDF 1.1 Primer. This primer is designed to provide the reader with the basic knowledge required to effectively use RDF. It introduces the basic concepts of RDF and shows concrete examples of the use of RDF. Learn more about the Data Activity.

Microdata to RDF (Second Edition) Group Note Published
Quote:
The Semantic Web Interest Group has published a new version of the Group Note on Microdata to RDF. HTML microdata is an extension to HTML used to embed machine-readable data into HTML documents. Whereas the microdata specification describes a means of markup, this specification describes processing rules that may be used to extract RDF from an HTML document containing microdata. The new version adds some HTML5 specific features that were finalized recently and were missing from the previous version of the Note, simplifies the RDF output as well as the processing rules to be in line with the usage practices of microdata, and updates the references to the latest version of RDF. Call for Review: RDFa 1.1 is a Proposed Edited Recommendation
Quote:
The RDFa Working Group is advancing four RDFa 1.1 documents to Proposed Edited Recommendations today:
•HTML+RDFa 1.1 – Second Edition.
•RDFa Core 1.1 – Third Edition. RDFa Core is a specification for attributes to express structured data in any markup language. The embedded data already available in the markup language (e.g., HTML) can often be reused by the RDFa markup, so that publishers don’t need to repeat significant data in the document content. The underlying abstract representation is RDF, which lets publishers build their own vocabulary, extend others, and evolve their vocabulary with maximal interoperability over time. The expressed structure is closely tied to the data, so that rendered data can be copied and pasted along with its relevant structure.
•RDFa Lite 1.1 – Second Edition. RDFa Lite is a minimal subset of RDFa, the Resource Description Framework in attributes, consisting of a few attributes that may be used to express machine-readable data in Web documents like HTML, SVG, and XML. While it is not a complete solution for advanced data markup tasks, it does work for most day-to-day needs and can be learned by most Web authors in a day.
•XHTML+RDFa 1.1 – Third Edition. RDFa Core 1.1 defines attributes and syntax for embedding semantic markup in Host Languages. This document defines one such Host Language. This language is a superset of XHTML 1.1, integrating the attributes as defined in RDFa Core 1.1. This document is intended for authors who want to create XHTML Family documents that embed rich semantic markup.
Comments are welcome through 1 February 2015. Learn more about the Data Activity.

Edited Recommendations for RDFa 1.1 Published
Quote:
The RDFa Working Group has published four Edited Recommendations for RDFa 1.1, namely HTML+RDFa 1.1, RDFa Core 1.1, RDFa Lite 1.1, and XHTML+RDFa 1.1. The HTML+RDFa 1.1 Recommendation had to be updated now that both RDF 1.1 Concepts and HTML5 are Recommendations, in order to resolve dependencies and finalize the pending normative status of some HTML+RDFa 1.1 features. Using the opportunity of a republication of this document, the few editorial errata in all the RDFa 1.1 documents have also been taken care of. The Working Group has also published a new version of the RDFa 1.1 Primer Working Group Note. Learn more about the Data Activity.
