Background sound stuff

Hi, two questions about background sound here, if anyone can answer it would be greatly appreciated.

#1. what code/scripte can I use to have background sound that will work in most browsers (e.g., at least Firefox, IE, and Opera)?

#2. How can I set it up so that the sound does not restart upon going to a new page?

I would rethink background sound

people generally HATE it - they are surfing at work and will shut it off because they arent' supposed to be OR they are listening to their own music.

Agreed. Background sound is one of the most aggrevating things about websites, especially when there is no button to turn it off.

Word of advice, stay away!

Here are just some of the reasons why background sounds are a very very bad idea:

- They increase your page's load time.
- They're annoying.
- If someone's listening to their own music (which loooads of people are) then its a biiiiig annoyance.
- Same goes for people surfing at work.
- If I hear background music on any page, I click the close button without thinking.

Well, I am also looking for a script to have a sound on/off button aswell, and quite frankly it isn't my choice as to whether or not the site has background sound, as I am designing it for a client and he wants background sound.

I also can't use the Embed function because it causes serious issues with my website.
