Python has become an increasingly popular programming language to learn - and there are so many excellent guides out there. The below books are free to read in HTML and PDF format, even LaTeX format for Think Python.

http://www.greenteapress.com/thinkpython/
https://python-guide.readthedocs.org/en/latest/
http://www.openbookproject.net/think...hon/english3e/

You also have an absolute wealth of information within online courses for Python. Such as MIT, Google, Khan Academy and even Codecademy.

http://www.khanacademy.org/?video=in...mputer-science
http://www.codecademy.com/tracks/python

Even more importantly you have the official documentation for the two widely used versions of Python which will always be your go-to website for any issues.

http://docs.python.org/3/ - Version 3
http://docs.python.org/2/ - Version 2.7
http://docs.python.org/2/faq/general.html - General Python FAQ

Great books/links suggested by Dan. Once you're fine with the fundamentals, I highly recommend reading this book: Core Python Applications Programming by Wesley J. Chun. A very extensive, well-written book on Python programming. You'll fall in love with this book.

There is one more book that I found really helpful: The Python Standard Library by Example by Doug Hellmann
