What is the best Free HTML Editor out there?
What is the best Free HTML Editor out there?
If there are no good free ones, I would like to get the paid ones, (very little pay)
Preferably visual (code as you go type)
Basically you can see the page and edit it as well.
Thanks

A lot of people prefer these main ones: - Dreamweaver
- FrontPage
- TextPad
- EditPlus 2
- NVU
Quite frankly, if you know what your doing and know your HTML front and back, then I would suggest Dreamweaver or EditPlus 2. I use EditPlus 2, and it's the best thing I've came across. I love the simplicity within the program and it allows Remote Server File edits, plus color code coordination; what more could you want?
That's my 2 cents .

I would suggest vim, but I'm not sure that would work out for you It's visual ... if you can visualize text.
My only concern with NVU is that it's not actively developed -- meaning, no one seems to be updating it anymore.
If you happen to be using a Mac and are running OS X, iWeb is a decent tool and seems to be getting better. Aside from that, I'm sorry, but I have no other suggestions.

Funny thing is, I've been coding websites for over 9 years now, and I've never heard of NVU.. which is weird

Notepad++ is a generic source code editor, and a damn good one at that. try it, and thank me later

I might do that, but for right now I'm using Microsoft Web Developer
I'm coding C++ ASP.NET, so it helps out a BUNCH!

NVU's code base is being used by OpenOffice, which is actively developed so OO Writer is another decent option.

Stock notepad++ is different, and has so many decent options ! you should honestly try it, things are highleted automaticle and there are plugins and so forth. Pluss if u simply insert some PHP into your code, you can have it read php for details to make sure everything is tip top.
Give it a shot, im sure u'll appreciate how much of a usefull tool it is.
