How to get started with Accelerated Mobile Pages

Quote:
Interested in Accelerated Mobile Pages but not sure how to get started? AMPlifying your site for lightning speed might be easier than you think.

If you use a Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Hatena, getting set up on AMP is as simple as installing and activating a plug-in. Each CMS has a slightly different approach to AMPlifying pages, so itís worth checking with your provider on how to get started.

On the other hand, if your site uses custom HTML, or you want to learn how AMP works under the hood, then check out the AMP Codelab for a guided, hands-on coding experience designed to take you through the process of developing your first pages.

How can Google Search Console help you AMPlify your site?

Quote:
If you have recently implemented Accelerated Mobile Pages on your site, itís a great time to check which of your AMP pages Google has found and indexed by using Search Console.

Search Console is a free service that helps you monitor and maintain your site's presence in Google Search, including any Accelerated Mobile Pages. You don't have to sign up for Search Console for your AMP pages to be included in Google Search results, but doing so can help you understand which of your AMP pages are eligible to show in search results...

How to best evaluate issues with your Accelerated Mobile Pages

Having problems indexing your AMP pages? Here is some help to evaluate any issues you may have with your AMP pages:
Quote:
As you #AMPlify your site with Accelerated Mobile Pages, itís important to keep an eye periodically on the validation status of your pages, as only valid AMP pages are eligible to show on Google Search.

When implementing AMP, sometimes pages will contain errors causing them to not be indexed by Google Search. Pages may also contain warnings that are elements that are not best practice or are going to become errors in the future...

How to set up Analytics on your AMP pages

You have built your AMP pages, now you need to track their performance. Here is a post from Google Developers blog how to do that:
Quote:
...You can choose to use a solution like amp-pixel that behaves like a simple tracking pixel. It uses a single URL that allows variable substitutions, so itís very customizable. See the amp-pixel documentation for more detail.

The amp-analytics component, on the other hand, is a powerful solution that recognizes many types of event triggers to help you collect specific metrics. Since amp-analytics is supported by multiple analytics providers, this means you can use amp-analytics to configure multiple endpoints and data sets. AMP then manages all of the instrumentation to come up with the data specified and shares it with these analytics solution providers...

Today we are announcing a change to the domain scheme of the Google AMP Cache. Beginning soon, the Google AMP Cache will serve each site from its own subdomain of https://cdn.ampproject.org. This change will allow content served from the Google AMP Cache to be protected by the fundamental security model of the web: the HTML5 origin.

New default placeholders for ads in*AMP

Incase you didn't notice.....

Quote:
We want to share a somewhat small but visually impactful feature that we are planning to launch on AMP.

Content loads incredibly fast on AMP pages, but traditional ads often load relatively slowly. This leaves blank areas on publisher pages, which is a poor reading experience for the user as it can feel like the page is missing content.
To deliver faster, lighter and more secure ads that are as fast as your AMP content, consider switching over to AMP Ads.

In the meantime, in order to address the issue of blank ad spaces, weíve added two default features to every ad placement on AMP pages. If an ad does not have a publisher-configured placeholder, AMP will automatically add:

That's why google recommends responsive design. There is no related problem when entire website is coded with AMP framework

Issue can cause visitors to be overcounted, single sessions to be divided into separate ones, and more.

If you are using the Google-backed Accelerated Mobile Pages, there appears to be an excellent chance that those AMP pages are not being tracked correctly, if you use Google Analytics.

Christian Oliveira, a technical SEO consultant, posted a long, technical explanation of the issues AMP is giving with proper tracking in Google Analytics. Malte Ubi, Googleís technical lead for the AMP project, confirmed the problems and that they have no easy solution, in tweets today...

Speaking about analytics bug, I have noticed that disabling 'known search engines' doesn't display correct results for AMP pages. And the filter, when disabling your own IP doesn't seems to work too.
However Analytics eventually will be updated, more info in AMP roadmap

Also, for those who haven't noticed official AMP design is renewed
