PHP - How to prevent comment SPAM?

Ok, my website http://www.ATLienGeorgia.com gets spammed so bad in the blog and picture comments. I have image verification on it but it still is not working. I wanted to know how I can better prevent spam. Do you think my image verification doesn't work (it is just black/white)?

1,Dont rely on Javascript to do error checking
2,Check the headers of the submission are coming from your site and not spammed from someones PC/Bot.
3,Use server side error detection and validation.

Well your verification is rather basic. Three - four alphanumeric words? You might want to think about making it 5-10 at the least.

Also, put a flood protection script in there, those are always handy.
