.NET platform question

On Google home page, if you're signed in, you can add / edit / remove and most intresting to me, move around boxes with particular information.

Which code is this done with? I was told website needs to be made on .NET platform. But without details its hard to understand.

Can someone help me out and tell me which programming language or scripting it will take to mimik that feature?

It does not really matter which language they used on the server.

The front functionality has a lot of ajax and javascript. You can move things around with JS, and retrieve the content using ajax, with PHP/.net
